Meets

WBMC runs regular coach meets to get mountaineers to the mountains. Our usual destinations are in Snowdonia and the Lake District.

The coach runs on the second Sunday of each month. We leave West Bromwich at seven o’clock in the morning (also picking-up at Penkridge for Lake District meets and M5 Junction 2 for North Wales), giving a full day in the hills before we head back for home. The coach returns to West Brom by about 9:30pm.

What do you do when the coach arrives at its destination? That bit’s up to you. We don’t arrange guided walks for everyone to follow. Instead, you are free to walk, run or climb wherever you like. Of course, you are welcome to make friends on the coach and to share their day in the hills. All we ask is that you jot down your plans in the route book

Coach fares are a snip at £14.00 for members/provisional members, £16.00 for non-members/guests, £7.00 for students in full time education and under sixteens (accompanied by an adult). If you would like to know how to book your place on the coach, or if you have any further questions about the coach meets, please contact us using the link to the left.

Club Hut

The Club’s hut, situated in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, makes an ideal base for a weekend’s mountaineering in North Wales. Its position, close to the foot of the Watkin path to Snowdon and set back from the A498 between Beddgelert and Capel Curig, is easy to reach from the West Midlands and gives easy access to the whole of North Wales. The hut provides comfortable accommodation for up to 15 people. Facilities include alpine style sleeping bunks, a smart new kitchen, a toasting-warm wood burning stove and a fully equipped toilet & shower block, complete with tumble dryer. The hut is open to members 365 days a year. For more information about the hut, including how to take a booking, please send us an e-mail.

Hut fees:Members - £3.00 per night Guests - £5.00 per night(maximum two guests per member)16 yrs & under - £1.50 per night

During the year, the hut is host to a selection of Club events:Family Weekends: For one weekend each month during the summer, priority at the hut is given over to families. We like to encourage the next generation of mountaineers and to allow the parents a chance to introduce their youngsters to the Club.Mountain Skills Weekend: Safety is always a top concern in the hills. This informal course, run by Club members, gives everyone the chance to hone their skills.Working Weekends: Sadly the hut doesn’t maintain itself. We are always grateful for volunteers for these weekends to help keep the hut in tip top condition.

Who are we?

What do we do?
WBMC organises a wide range of mountaineering meets throughout the year.
