Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all club members and perspective members out there. We are in the process of developing a new website and so have neglected maintaining this website!

The club and its 200 plus members has been very active in the last few months running its monthly coach meets and also other weekends away, the winter slide shows at the Globe in West Bromwich, the home dinner in West Bromwich and Mitch's Meet to Hathersage (a social meet in the Christmas/New Year break named after our long standing club President).

If you are interested in joining the club you are welcome to join us at The Globe, Reform Street, West Bromwich from 9pm on Thursday or put your email contact details on a comment to this website and we will get back to you.

Club member Joe Wood did an excellent video which includes a lot of footage of Mitch's Meet- you can view it on You Tube at:-

September Meets

September is another busy month for the club with the following events:-

10th September -Evening Meet-Sandwell Valley
13th September -Coach Meet-Malham
18-20th September -Family Weekend -Club Hut
25-27th September- Womens (no tests required) Weekend -Club Hut

I don't believe you have to be a club member to attend events but you have to be a member to go to the club hut by yourself.

Although we have a membership of over 200 members peoples circumstances change eg they move away, family and work commitments change etc. and so we are always looking for new members. A key strength of the club is its continuing diversity of members and the activities club members do. For example with have a mix of males and females and famillies as members from children to retirees. Also some club members just walk up mountains whilst others rock climb and many do both. Whatever you do you are likely to meet club members who would do something you like to do. We look forward to hearing from you.

August Meets A Success

West Brommers had a successful August which included an evening meet to Kinver, a coach meet to Cader Idris and Fairbourne and also many club members successfully completing Gloss Glockner in the alps.

The club was also tackling the Haute Route and I await news of this.

Overall a very active month for the club even in the normal summer holiday period where many club members, myself included would have done a lot of walking- for myself it was a week bagging various peaks in North Wales from the club hut

Coniston Long Meet-Saturday

Last Saturday's long meet to Coniston was a fantastic meet with a lovely clear day giving fine views to surrounding mountains such as The Scafells and Crinkle Crags.

The forecast rain did n't materialise and the coach load of West Brommers did a selection of walks including climbing Wetherlam and Coniston Old Man amongst others.

The longer meet gave us chance to sample Coniston's fine pubs and eateries such as The Sun Hotel and the chip shop!
